How many people in your orbit have signed up to volunteer on the Obama website and are still waiting to hear how they can help? There are literally hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers who want to volunteer, and you can be the person who plugs them into the campaign.
Starting this weekend through election day, I am running Sunday afternoon phonebank at Obama Headquarters (52 Broadway at Exchange Place). This phonebank will connect the people who have not yet been contacted by the campaign with the full range of opportunities (calling and going to swing states, overall GOTV, voter protection, etc). Shifts are 12-3 and 3-6.
Mobilizing other volunteers is inspirational, low stress and critically important - one phonebanker shift=25+ volunteers deployed; our weekly Sunday goal is 30 phonebankers x 2 shifts=1500+volunteers deployed. You can sign up on the Obama website or you can email me directly, and I'll make sure we have a phone/seat for you.
UPDATE:
If the link above doesn't work, go to your "My Barack Obama" page (and if you don't have one, create one), and use the advanced search function to look for events 1 mile from zipcode 10004.
